Teresa McCoy Memorial Scholarship Fund

My (only) 47 year old sister, best friend, soul-mate, and confidant died in February 2005 from a minor heart ailment, that developed as a result of a bout with Kawasaki Syndrome/Scarlet Fever (as a child).  The World is a colder place without this State Star Teacher recipient.  She dedicated her life to being a mother and to the joy she received as a quality educator. There are so many children left to teach.

Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife.  The first question was, "Did you bring joy?" The second was, "Did you find joy? With this philosophy, in Teresa's afterlife journey, she is miles and miles away from where she departed.

Teresa Ann Hilton McCoy-- November 12, 1957 - February 13, 2005

A good mother, a great sister, a dedicated Educator, a provider of Joy.

She and I were best friends since birth and she always gave of herself to others.  Even as a child, when she removed my pacifier from my mouth and kept it for herself, she would stick her thumb in my mouth to keep me contented.

As a tribute to my sister, Teresa, her husband- Michael Shannon McCoy has created the Teresa McCoy Memorial Scholarship fund for underprivileged children.  This is exactly what Teresa would have wanted!

The proceeds from this fund will go to Fernandina Beach area underprivileged children to assist or fully fund their college fund.  Rather than creating another website to publicize the activities and fundraising efforts that this Memorial fund has planned, I have decided to integrate this information into our family web site.
