Raymond Hilton Box

Recently, with Gretel Hilton's death, we came across an old box of photo's.  I am in process of scanning all of these photo's, uploading them to the hiltonfamilytree website and making a CD Copy of all photo's for anyone who is interested.

I will upload these images on several dozen pages on tabs to the left.  As always, once these images are scanned they will be returned to the owner.  If you have images, please loan them or scan them so we can get them uploaded.

If you have specific information about an image we upload (a story, who the image is etc), please give us this information.  Here is an example below.  To save space these are thumbnail images.  Click on them for a larger view or to print a copy for yourself.

If your family does not have images on this site, contact your current family matriarch.  They typically kept images of their family, since men have little use for photo's until they get older.

Connie -  This is Connie at 3 Months.  He is a thoroughbred and one of the best.  Raymond paid 120 marks for Connie ($40).  Raymond shipped (flew) Connie from Germany in 1946 and the brothers & sisters picked him up at the bus station.

Unfortunately, Connie could not speak English and the Hilton's had to give him directions in German.  This had to be pretty funny watching the Hilton children yelling ein, swine, nine, and the neighbors probably thought Hitler had landed.

Uncle Russell bought a female and he and Raymond planned to get rich breeding and selling these dogs.  Unfortunately,  Uncle Russell's dawg did not speak German, so they could not communicate.

The Holstein Heifer - After returning from Germany, Raymond bought 4 Holstein Heifers to start the Hilton Herd.  He also bought a washing machine, and a refrigerator.  Tom and Milton still remember carrying water to run the washing machine.

While Tom was too young to do much work,  Milton had to stay at the farm and put up fencing to keep the cows on the farm.
