| Martha Ann HeltonAgain, there is no tie to James or Abraham Helton other than date of birth (1837) and proximity to Randolph county (Clay County) for this Death record. This record is being entered as a placeholder for future research. It is possible that her husband (James Helton-) was a son or brother of Abraham Helton who was the son of James Helton of 1820 Washington County GA Census and 1830 Randolph County GA Census. James Helton of 1820 Washington County was born about 1775 and his son Abraham(?) was born 1794-1800. If Martha's husband (James Helton) was close to Martha's age (age proximity of spouses was traditional), he could have been one of Abrahams sons or another of James' (1820 Washington County) sons, that we have not yet identified (more probable). With the old Naming Traditions, the eldest son was typically named for the grandfather (father's father). While this James would have been about 40 years younger than Abraham, he could have been the son of one of James Helton's other Sons listed in the household of 1830 Randolph County GA Census. This is more likely. However, we know that Martha Ann Helton was the Daughter of James Holmes (North Carolina) and Martha Thurman-North Carolina (probably the 3rd Daughter or her mother was the 3rd daughter and she was named for her grandmother-old naming tradition) and she was 89 years old when she died.
