Now looking for information/family ties to father of James Helton and which Peter Helton son/grandson or brother was James' father.

Hilton Family Origin

In the United States today, there are essentially three broad lines of Hilton's/Helton's who originally pioneered the United States. The English line which probably settled in North Carolina and South Carolina. The Maryland Line which was Nordic or Viking (The Conrad Hilton Line), and the Native American line which married Helton's and took the Helton name. While not specifically detailed here because a DNA line has not been established, there is an African-American line, as well. This line took the Hilton/Helton name from former slave owners.

Our Hilton line is from the Y Haplogroup R1b1b2 which originated in the middle or near east and spread eastward to Asia, then northwestward into Spain, France and Western Europe about 40,000 years ago. This Hilton Clan was among the first cave painters which should explain to my mother (50 years later) all those crayon marks on the walls in our first home-it was a genetic thing. The bruises on my butt were not, however, This early Hilton Clan was among the first to refine and modernize the use of stone tools.

As the last Glacial Ice age began to descend on Europe, many of these early Hilton's began to move southward into Spain looking for beachfront property in the warm sun (some things never change).

After the Ice Retreated

As the ice retreated, the Hilton clan slowly moved back toward England. It was from here that we made the trip to America about 30 years after the Mayflower.
